Polar become exclusive supplier to the Rugby Football Union for Women
Installed as the Official supplier of Heart Rate Monitors to the RFUW, the relationship sees Polar support England’s elite squad, who are the reigning RBS 6 Nations Champions, with the provision of their sophisticated sports monitoring equipment and performance services.
A pioneering innovator in heart rate monitoring, Polar is dedicated to improving well-being and sports performance through a profound understanding of the human body. Measuring player’s heart rate ECG accurately and reliably, Polar’s intelligent training tools provide individuals with a deep understanding of what their body is telling them. This personal information can help players train at the right intensity so that they can get the most out of their training and use their time efficiently. Continuous feedback on their improvement can really motivate players and ensure that they keep on the right track.
The RFUW will be using a combination of Polar products including the RS400 and the Polar TEAM2. The Polar RS400 is a sophisticated sports computer and ideally suited to anyone looking to track and improve fitness and endurance. With systems for planning, monitoring and analysis, this computer will help take its users to new levels of fitness. Designed with coaches’ needs in mind Polar’s TEAM2 is the ultimate team tool for optimising and adjusting training intensities as the user can record and study fitness data in real time, during a training session or even a match. By collecting and analysing data during training and games, heart rate based monitoring allows coaches to make informed decisions about the physical state of their players.
As well as supporting the senior squad, who will contest the 2010 IRB Women’s Rugby World Cup next season, Polar’s partnership with the RFUW will also benefit the next crop of talent coming through the system. The England Under-20 squad will begin introductory training with heart rate monitoring equipment to prepare them for advancing to senior level in the coming years.
Malcolm Douglas, Managing Director of Polar Electro UK, said: “We are delighted to have teamed up with the RFUW. Women’s rugby is flourishing in this country and we are excited to be working with the RFUW to ensure the most skilled players are in top physical condition. Working with elite level professionals through this partnership, and others like it, further demonstrates our position as the market leader in heart rate monitoring equipment and services.”
Rosie Williams, RFUW Managing Director, added: “We are delighted to have teamed up with Polar. Since trialing their products, we have noticed a dramatic improvement in our players’ fitness. With the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup in London just around the corner, we are looking forward to seeing the benefits in our athletes as they prepare for the biggest tournament of their rugby careers. Polar are a world class sports brand and we are excited about reaping the rewards of this partnership.”
Monitoring heart rate is no longer an activity reserved solely for elite athletes, as it now has a comfortable place in increasing the fitness level of every sportsperson, athlete or exerciser, regardless of level or experience. Understanding what your body is telling you is essential for improvement and achieving goals.
