Endurance Programmes
Guiding you to improve your running and cycling performance

These running and cycling programmes include recommended warm-up, exercise and cool-down phases for every training session. The programmes are customised to your specific needs and fitness level and optimise endurance training by adapting and updating your training routines every four weeks. You can create these programmes in polarpersonaltrainer.com and upload them to your Polar RCX5.

Fitness Test
Tells you exactly how your fitness is developing.
If you’re looking to improve your fitness and want to keep up to date with how well you’re doing, the smart Fitness Test will tell you exactly what you need to know in just five minutes. By regularly comparing your test results, you can see what progress you are making and how your fitness is improving.

Running Index
Illustrates how your running performance is developing.
If you’re looking to keep on top of your running performance you’ll find this feature a big help. Regular use over time allows you to see how efficient your running is. Your Running Index score is calculated automatically after every run, based on your heart rate and from the speed data collected from your GPS or stride sensor. A higher reading indicates that you can run faster with less effort.

Smart Calories
Lets you know exactly how many calories you’ve burned.

OwnCal is the most accurate calorie counter on the market. It calculates the number of calories expended during a training session based on your weight, height, age, gender, your individual maximum heart rate (HRmax) and how hard you’re training.

Training Load
Helps you find the perfect balance between rest and training.
Training Load helps you to find the perfect balance between rest and training. Find out your training load status at polarpersonaltrainer.com. It shows you at a glance your cumulative training load for every day, advising if and when rest days are needed and when it’s best to train harder in order to maintain your performance improvement.

ZoneOptimizer
Ensures you always train at the right intensity.
This feature ensures that you always train at the right intensity. Knowing how hard to train can be a challenge. By using ZoneOptimizer, you can get the exact training effect you’re looking for as the feature adjusts your five heart rate training zones to perfectly match your body’s current physiological condition.

›With my Polar RCX5 I can make sure that I’m hitting the right intensity on every run and getting the most out of my time -Helen Taranowski
"As a member of the England ultra distance running team, I usually log between 70 and 90 miles a week in training. I have to fit this in around a full time job so it’s vital that the time I spend training is as effective as possible.
With my Polar RCX5 I can make sure that I’m hitting the right intensity on every run and getting the most out of my time. With the Running Index feature I can easily compare my fitness over time and the training load data in Polarpersonaltrainer.com allows me to monitor my daily training and ensure that I’m not under or over training. The G5 GPS has a fantastic sensor and will work even if I carry it in my pocket or backpack and with 20 hours battery life I don’t have to worry about it running out of power on long runs and multi-day events.
Over the last few years, with the help of a Polar heart rate monitor to track and analyse my training, I have improved from a recreational marathon runner to an International level ultra runner, far exceeding what I imagined was possible when I started running."
›Being able to program different displays for the “heart touch” feature in different sports is a fantastic tool -Dave Buchanan
"As a 24hour mountain bike racing soloist and Ultra-Endurance Guinness World Record Holder, I have to commit to 15-27 hours of training a week. I will normally log between 200 and 450miles a week on the bike in training. Like most committed athletes, I have to fit this around a full time job so I can’t afford any junk miles or training.
This year’s main event for me is slightly different, and needs me to cross train and still maintain the most bang for my buck on the bike, as I’m still a cyclist at heart.
Up steps the RCX5.
I’m now certain that I’m hitting the right intensity on every run, swim, bike or mixed workout and it uploads seamlessly to polarpersonaltrainer.com which allows me to monitor my micro and macrocycles. The information presented also make it obvious if you’ve overdone things and need a rest, or need to update your settings.
The footpod is a great addition for me, as I’m not a natural runner and it helps with ensuring a nice cadence is developing over time.
Being able to program different displays for the “heart touch” feature in different sports is a fantastic tool that tells what you need to know, when, and without pressing buttons: Whatever the environment.
I’ve trained with the help of a Polar heart rate monitor since 1993 and have used them to track and analyse my training. If it wasn’t for my Polar watches, I don’t think I’d be where I am today."
›The Zone Optimizer ensures I am getting the planned training effects on days following heavy training -Matthew Ellis
"Since picking up a niggling injury due to over-striding the Polar RCX5 has really helped manage the issue and rehabilitate at the same time as correcting technique that was the cause of the injury. The Polar Personal trainer in combination with the foot pod and cadence sensor has allowed me to train while managing efficiency on the bike and maintain speed. A great added feature of the RCX5 which I've also found valuable when training at full capacity is the Zone Optimizer to ensure I am getting the planned training effects on days following heavy training blocks"
